Biography
Paul Haverkorn (1977)
Founder and owner of Mineral Art, Fair Minerals and Fair Innovation in the Netherlands.
Paul Haverkorn has been curious from an early age and seeks challenges to contribute to a better and more beautiful world, ethical responsibility is of paramount importance.
Paul has a sense of humor and a positive outlook on life. He always finds opportunities to see things from different perspectives. He is open-minded and involved.
From his innovative background at his company Fair Innovation, he was inspired to create geological works of art from self-collected minerals, stones, sand and (precious) metals.
The complex aesthetics of nature are so refined, that he wants to portray it as best as possible. Thus began a steady development of knowledge, materials, processes and aesthetic expression, guided and inspired by the raw beauty of the mineral rocks. The choice to only use responsible material was a logical one.
There are many abuses in the mineral chain, such as poor working conditions, child labor, counterfeiting and environmental damage. Paul shows that it can also be done responsibly by going to potential sites within Europe based on preliminary geological research and searching for the special minerals, rocks and sand together with local knowledge and specialists, whether or not as a team. Transparency and trust play a crucial role in this. The works of Mineral Art are therefore ethically responsible.
Sustainability also plays an important role. Many minerals are lost through mining and erosion, the minerals and stones that Paul uses in his works of art are preserved for future generations.
